Ballet Mécanique

BALLET MÉCANIQUE
ballet by Georges Antheil for 4 pianists and 4 percussionists

Technology has become connection, information for everybody; it is hard to live without it. An object that can be disassembled, complex and playful as a rubik’s cube, was used by the dancers as symbol of the strength and bond of the whole society.

During the choreography, the dancers try to detach from the object, but find no real reason to reject it and therefore, the connection intensifies. There was a perpetual confrontation with the object, its shape, its colors and the unpredictable sounds of the environment. All dancers experiment and develop their creative potential through this object & support, which can result to our eyes “strength” and “limit” at the same time.
